LOL. My hunting pouch and a slightly larger possibles bag across the other shoulder if I'm staying out longer or planning on shooting more than the 35 rounds I normally carry. The only thing I carry to 'the range' that I don't carry when hunting is a roll of masking tape and a few targets. My 'range' is a mowed section in the woods behind a neighbor's house that is a neighborhood sighting spot. It's about an 800 yard walk from my back door.

"Johnson", Even though I go to rendezvous I still take my range box with me. I just keep it out of sight and live out of the shooter's bag, so to speak. If I would need something, I'd have it, hopefully... :: When enjoying an outing at the range I generally just use my "range box", again, with everything in it that I might need, hopefully... :: I build my own range boxes out of #2 pine then stain them. I have compartments for, powder, ball, cap, flint, patching, etc., the list goes on and on. I build them to my standard of what I think one should be and what works for me. You should do the same. I like my powder cans, and cleaning fluids to ride in the upright possition so build it deep enough to do this if you take my advise... Remember,,, if you think you have everything you need, double, triple check. There's always something you will need and don't have with ya. Happens to all of us. I use five boxes; .40, .45, .50, .54, and the fifth box has a little of everything I may need for whichever caliber rifle I may be shooting. Naturally I only try to take one box to the range with me at any given time... Building a range box is actually enjoyable... :) Stocking a range box is, well, guess work at best... :: :: :p

I have a collection of rather large burlap possible bags which are zippered at the top, for "each caliber." Depending on what I am shooting, I grab that marked bag. Inside the bag is everthing that I might need to break down, clean, shoot, load, etc any rifle of that caliber. Each bag had their own, short starters, powder measure, etc. Besides the bag, then all I need carry to the range is the powder horn. Each kind of powder have their own horn for identification.

I have my leather possible bag for the rendevous I attend, and I hunt out of a camo fanny pack/hand warmer with pockets. It makes it easier to walk around through the brush and to climb trees, etc. The larger hunting pack is loaded prior to the hunt with everything I might need in the field, and there is room for a camera and lunch... ::

I use inexpensive ( 10 to 15 bucks ) plastic tool boxes with the one removable tray on the top. They are large enough to hold powder, solvent, oil, tools, and all the other unnecessary crap I might need but never do until the day I don't have it and I'll need it! (What!?) :bull:

Here's what I use.

Plano deep field box. $10 at Bass Pro Shops. It works great for range work, hold everything I need for all of my rifles.
I use a camo fanny pack in the woods but I am in the process of going more traditional and making my own possibles bag and such.

Huntin

I use my old fishing tackle box, back in 1980 I went to fly fishing only and the tackle box was reassigned to muzzleloader duty...

I have an old Winchester wooden ammo box with lid and a hasp to lock. I keep all my extra stuff that I'll take to a rondevoux in it but to go to the range or hunting I'll just take my bag, horn and gun, that should be all you'll need.

I built my own out of 1/2" plywood. It has a lift out tray, and a deep bottom section. I keep all the supplies I need for shooting all my muzzleloaders, including the cap n ball revolver supplies in it. Glued to the inside of the lid is a content's list which I check before every outing so that I can restock the range box from my reloading cabinet supplies.
My hunting pouch is a very small eastern style that holds only the essentials to load & fire 6 times, plus 1 flint and leather, jag, bullet puller, and a couple of cleaning patches.

For rifle range shooting, I use a Plastic Fishing Tackle box.
It has three trays with enough compartments to store the caps in one, the flints in another the worms/jags in another, etc and still has enough room in the bottom for patches, short starter, staple gun (you never know when a mad staple will attack you), and patch lube.
As I recall it only cost about $16.

I've accumulated a number of MTM Case Guard Shooting Boxes over the years...one each for Archery, Trap/Skeet Shotguns, Rifles/Handguns, Percussion ML's, and Flintlock ML's.
They are large durable plastic boxes which hinge wide open into two big halves with several reconfigurable sections and dividers...not "traditional" but outstanding boxes

That's a dandy box, how big is it? $20 seems pretty cheap.
sure a lot purtier than mine.

I use two 5 gallon plastic pickle barrels.......the kind you get a the resturants.......I like it because it has a bale (handle) on it.........got to find a better method.....john......
