GM barrel cleanout screw?

What's the thread count on the cleanout screw on GM drop in barrel for T/C?
I like to keep a few spares around in case I lose one.

Iknow I will catch more heat for this, but you won't lose it if you don't remove it.

The hole filled with what is often called a clean out screw is merely for ease of machining the flash channel and not for cleaning the gun. IMHO, it's not supposed to come out and it isn't necessary to remove that screw for cleaning. IMHO, you are much better off leaving it in place.

Boy is that the truth. Had that thing in my gun for quite a while and no problem.

Remember if you take it out dont put it back until you have replaced the niple on the gun compleetly. Thred it in to far and you will mash it with the nipple. Been there did that.

While your frinkeling with your "clean out screw" why don't you go to your local Auto parts store and buy some Loc-Tite thread locking compound?
Then you can remove the screw, apply the compound and screw it gently back in place.

With the locking compound on it it will be totally sealed and it will not come out and get lost.

Geeze, I didn't want to start a cleanout screw discussion. All I want is the thread so I can get a couple replacements.
I always take out the screw when I clean my barrels. It makes me sleep better at night.

HD I am with you. I take out the clean out screw when I clean my gun. I have even lost one :redface: Called GM and they sent me 3 new ones for the cost of postage. I am sure I will not be able to find them when I misplace another.

FYI you can get 8-32 x 1/4" socket head screws in stainless steel at The Home Depot.
