Man I haven’t seen anything from GAA (Golden Age Arms) in years. For those of you who don’t know where they were located, they were in Delaware, Ohio. Across the street from Bunn’s coffee shop. That was a great shop they had, had anything you could imagine black powder related. Then they moved to Ashley, Ohio where they eventually closed the doors. Thats been many years ago….maybe closed up in the late 80’s just guessing.

A couple of comments…

Douglas barrels were very highly respected in their day. Most had eight grooves and a 1:66” twist. However, I’m pretty sure the Golden Age barrels were specially made by Douglas for Golden Age Arms, with seven deep grooves and a 1:48” twist, which is more appropriate for a .40 caliber anyway.

With those quality parts and that much work already done, this is a good deal, either for a pro to finish and resell, or for a craftsman to finish and shoot.

I would not install a vent liner in that lightweight barrel. Just drill a hole. Maybe lightly chamfer the outer opening, but in my opinion vent liners in thin-walled barrels like that are more of a liability than an asset.

@Mulebrain is a straight shooter, a reliable seller. I bought a rifle from him last year and found him to be honest, patient, and responsible.
