I found a NIB Cimarron Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon for $250 + $20 shipping from a dealer. This sounds like a pretty good price. Do you agree?

Thanks - OW

Excellent price if as advertised. The cheapest Cimarron Uberti 3rd Dragoon I've seen is $329 at Arms 2 Armor.

In fact, it's too good. I think Robert an SAA fan has an excellent suggestion.

Ok, I have determined this revolver is "as new" with box and papers.

From what I can tell so far from our correspondence, it sounds like this revolver is preowned, a few months old, looks as if it may never have been shot, and that this is the original dealer.

I am getting more information. Hopefully pictures will follow soon.

I have no problem with a used gun as long as it has been well taken care of. The trick is, of course, determining if it has. :hmm:

oldwolf -

I have a long standing rule - well, actually I have many long standing rules, but this one applies here: never buy a used gun that I have not handled. For internet or mail order purchases that means I insist on an inspection period after delivery during which I have the right to return the gun for a full refund, no questions asked. I only agree to stand for shipping costs in that situation.

That rule was learned the hard way and has served me well. I've never regretted walking away from a deal that came with a no returns caveat.

Mykeal is right. Insist on an inspection period. He shouldn't have a problem with that. If he does you don't need it.

The price seems too good to be true! Insist on the right of refusal upon inspection like mykeal mentioned, otherwise WALK AWAY!

Dave

I say to GRAB IT! Thats a great price on A CIMMARON! Wait to LONG and somebody else is gonna get it! Then you can regret it for a Long time!

He will allow a 3 day inspection period. I am waiting on some pictures of it though. If I get the pics, I will post them here for you to see.

I am getting cold feet though, I already have two Ruger Old Army revolvers...and have had my eye on a .32 rifle for awhile too. :shake:

Still, the old Dragoon weighs heavy on my mind. What am I going to do with three .44's? :hmm:

What am I going to do with three .44's?
Shoot them, fool! That's what they're for.

I have 9:
2 Rogers & Spencer
1 Colt 1847 Walker
1 Colt 1848 2nd Model Dragoon
1 Colt 1848 3rd Model Dragoon
1 Starr Single Action
2 Colt 1860 Army
1 Colt 1873 Single Action Army (Uberti Cattleman)

You don't hear me whining, do you?

And if you really don't want it, even with his 3 day inspection, let me know because I do at that price! Make up your mind pronto.

I've been saving up for a Ruger Old Army for 2 years. I don't have it yet because I keep getting these great deals on other guns that I can't pass up. You'll not get a better deal than this one, and that .32 can wait a while longer. Seriously.

If you can afford the Dragoon go for it. I collect and shoot 2nd Generation Colt percussion revolvers and really like Dragoon's.

The Dragoon's are very interesting revolvers and played a part in our history that you can fully enjoy by owning and shooting one.

All of the Cimarron/Uberti guns I have owned have been very high quality... never regreted buying a Cimarron/Uberti.

You might consider selling one Ruger Old Army if the financial aspect is a problem. If you can; suggest you sell the Ruger after you have the Dragoon in hand and have verified that Dragoon is in acceptable condition.

Remember this life is not a dress rehearsal.

p.s. If after all our armtwisting you decide against the Dragoon... please let mykeal know your source.

:hatsoff:

You are quite the Diplomat, aren't you mykeal?

Once I get the pictures from the guy, and if it looks good and legitimates, I will buy the revolver from him.

I'll post the pictures once I get them.

Thanks all!

Oldwolf - I apologize - that didn't come across like I had intended. It was meant with humor, not angst. I should have added a couple of smileys, but I rarely think to use them. Sorry for sounding so boorish.

But I really would buy the gun at that price with the inspection period included...yes, I would. I hope you do and you enjoy using it. They really are remarkable weapons.

No problem - I thought that was the case in fact, especially having talked to you in other threads. :haha:

Like I said, once I get the pics, I'll post them.

I always hate the wait, don't you? :hmm:

Here is one picture of it. I hope to get more.

Welllllllll...He just raised the price to $325, I guess he has been doing a little research on his own.

His new price is the same as for a new one at Texas Jacks.

Sorry to hear that the price got raised.

More unsolicited advice... :rotf:

Do you attend gun shows?

Gun shows have provided many of my best deals over many years.

For example, at the recent Colt Collectors Association Show in Reno, Nevada, bought two 2nd Generation Colt percussions.

An 1851 Navy .36 in excellent condition, low 46XX serial number range, $400.

A well used Pocket Navy .36, very, very, low price.

About a year ago bought a 2nd Generation Colt Dragoon with a tiny bit of rust on the frame for $325.

Again, sorry you missed that deal !
