Wow what a great time was had. I spent six days camping with the Davy Crockett Longhunters. We did everything from shoot a great woods walk to throw a great hawk course and one unbelievable novelty shoot. I did ok shooting but had a great time eating and hanging out with all the folks. It was a great time had by all.

I run the Hawk course at our Club`s Rhondy and am interested in the types of Targets/ Set-Ups they had? Maybe get me some new ideas? Sounds like you had one of those " Great Times"....

We had a great hawk walk. We went through a course in wich at one target you had to throw opposite hand. Then another target was a log hung from a tree that was swung back and forth and you had to try and hit it moving. We also had to do a reverse hold throw and we had to throw at a target that was down range but had limbs in the way that youhad to throw under or over. It was great just walking thru the woods and finding the targets. hope this helps some.

This is an annual event held at Crockett state park in Lawrenceburg Tn.

Perhaps leading to confusion, Tenn. has two different Crockett state parks each with it's own distinct Crockett Days. There is the rondy at the Davy Crockett State Park near Lawrenceburg, TN and there is a smaller (juried?) event at the Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park near Limestone, TN. The Birthplace park event is this coming weekend.

I was hoping I would get to go this year,But had to go back out of state to work. I hoped that someone would take some pics & post them. My hometown paper has about 10 pics in the photo gallery if anyone is interested. Go to timesdaily.co & look in the photo gallery.Looks like a HOT time was had by all.

They have part of the Crockett clan out here in Grandbury Texas as well, near where Elizabeth (Davy's last wife) settled (and is now buried) in the mid 1800's with part of his offspring settled in this area as well ... they sometimes have a howdown too!

Been there Davy, If my memory serves me right she is buried in Acton Tx. I was there for the big nuclear gold rush in the 80's. I lived in Granbury on the lake across from the court house, great little town "Big Party with lot's of Wiskey"

Yep shes buried in what is called the smallest Texas State park I believe in Acton. Ive been there too .. by mistake and found here grave as I have that was buried in that graveyard and I stumbled on her large Marker there. I could not beleiev it although I was a Crockett fan at that time, I did not know the Crockett history there.

I have shown this photo before ... but here is the living grandson ... David Crockett (5th generation) whom I am friends with. As nice a gentleman you will ever meet, just like his great grandfather! He lives here in Texas.
