Decided to make a proper water container, I need to make a wood stopper or corn cob stopper. I grew this gourd last year in the back yard.

Neat gourd, I like the double ones like that. BTW, if the canteen will be used in the white culture in the 18th century, and if you are interested in HC aspects, corks were readily available for sale, so a cork stopper is OK.

I saw several original examples of that very style at the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco, TX.

It holds right at 54 ounces and I lined it with beeswax.
