Is there any purpose or reason the investarms Great Plains or Gemmer hawken have a fish belly? Did any of the original Hawkins have one? Makes me wonder where or why they got the idea.

The era that the rifle fits had the belly. More mid and post mid century Plains rifle. They are good rifles but labeling Hawken is just marketing.

People want to try to make them look more like a Hawken so they want to remove the later features. They are what they are! I've had one since 82. Deer elk and antelope didn't care about the perch belly. Good rifles. If you want a Hawken then study all you can find about them before you spring for one.
