HOW MANY GRAINS OF 3F Triple7 can a .38 cartidge hold and the same with .45 brass?

Cartridges are not usually discussed in this forum unless, for some reason, an empty case is being used as a powder measure for a muzzleloading firearm. The sticky in post #2 is the definitive on this subject - please use it for reference.

Just using empty .38 and .45 as powder measurers and loaders, making a wire handle around the rim of the cartridge. This info was in a 2005 edition of Dixie, but I lost it. Some help please?!

The chart referenced by @biliff above will likely tell you charge weight by volume. With empty .38 brass, are you using .380ACP, 38 S&W or 38 Special cases? The empty .45 brass, are you using 45 ACP, 45 LC or 45/70? Makes a difference.
