Based on previous comments on this forum, I gave Eddie May a call to ask whether he could cast me .648" RB (I knew he could cast me .490"s from other comments). He was in the middle of telling me that he didn't have a mould for .648 when he stopped and excused himself, looked over in his moulds and pulled out a .648 mould he'd never used. :) I ordered 200 .648s and 300 .490s (for those interested, the price was $14.00/100 for the .648s and $7.50/100 for the .490s, + $10.45 shipping). Eddie said that it might take him a little while to cast up the .648s, since he had other orders to fill, and it was a single-cavity mould, but that was fine with me, as I wasn't in a hurry. I posted the check the day before I went away for a week, and two days after I got back, the Post Office delivered a haevy package! Counting in the mail time both ways, this is incredibly fast! I don't know if anyone has priced .648RB anywhere else, but if you can find them, they're usually priced per 20 or 25, and they aren't cheap! I'm really happy right now, and there are a few pieces of steel that are going to get smacked around very soon!

I've had good dealings with him a couple times as well on .390s and .600s...they aren't Hornady's but they still shoot better than I can  and the price is the best that I know of

Oh hell.
Ah thought you were saying you had a great expeerince with Ellie May (as in Ellie May Clampet).

Ah ain't seen her around fer years! (probibly jus as well. 45+ yars can take thar toll.) :rotf:

Hi colmoultrie,

sounds real good. Does he cast .600 too? What rifle do you use with the .648 RB?

Regards

Kirrmeister

I wouldn't let Eddie know you've been lusting after his kin-woman. he may have something to shoot them RB's out of. :haha:

I seen Ellie May somewheres on TV not too long ago. She must have been eatin her critters. It takes a lot longer to see all of her that it used to.

She "Donna Douglas" quit acting and has been selling real estate in Beverly hills for the last 30/40 years..
No wonder she is substantial
She is still HOT

Yes, he does. They are now $14/100. That's all I use now in my 20-gauges, all have been from him. I shot at least 700 in my 1st-year with my flint smoothie  .

I had bought a few thousand, in several lots, when they were < $10/1000, since I was traveling so much on business during the week ... sure glad I did!

I bought a thousand each .390s, .395s and .490s and maybe 500 .530s from him about 6-8 months ago to come close to 70 pounds, that is the amount the US Postal Service has for their flat rate box, postage about $9 as I remember. When the rural mail carrier brought it to my door, he said "What the hell is in here, lead?" Heh, heh. Eddie was good to deal with.

I bought 50 lbs of lead from Rotometals a couple of months back and I thought the woman that delivers our mail was going to "bust a gut" wrestling it off the back seat of her car. I offered to get it out for her but she insisted on doing it herself.

I didn't ask about .600", since I don't own a gun in 20 ga., but others have said he does cast them.

I shoot .648s in my shorty Richard Wilson style smoothbore, which is 16 ga.

A year or so ago I got .600's from him, but he did not do .595's, maybe he has added those, you might ask him. He is a real nice gent. Good smoke, ron
