Having zero carbon content, the Ampco bronze nipples will not burn the flash hole out near as fast. It's tough stuff. Not hard, but very tough.
I've only used them on my ROAs, but am very happy with them.

put some marking dye- lipstick works-- on the top edge of the nipple, and lower the hammer. Then raise the hammer to full cock so you can look inside the hammer skirt at the face of the hammer inside. If the hammer face is hitting the top of the nipple squarely, you should see a complete circle( ring) of dye on the face of equal width. If you don't see this, then the face is not hitting the cap squarely and that is the reason your gun is misfiring.

Also, check the caps to see if they are sitting down on the nipple fully. The Second most common reason for misfires is the use of the wrong size cap for the nipple. CURE?: Put the nipple in a chuck of a drill and use a file to reduce its diameter so that the caps fit down onto the nipple completely. Simple.

And THAT my friends is another very important tweek you can do towards reliability and consistant accuracy!! Squareing the face of the cast hammers they install! It takes a dremel tool and a grinding bit but there is a significant pay off in the long run. I've done several after following PaulV's instruction.
