Great Trails is commin up in Malvern, Ohio. Any members going? If ya are, stop by the Gunmakers booth.

Blahman: We are going to rifle a gain twist barrel at Great Trails on the Beamer Bench. It is going to be a .40 caliber barrel with a twist of 48to15. One turn in 48 inches at the breech to one turn in 15inches at the muzzle. Should be interesting to see how it shoots.

Blahman, how about more info on Malvern. Don't know anything about it.

Rick

Blahman, do you have anymore info on Malvern? Was up there earlier this year at the Northwest Primitive. Wasn't too impressed from a builders point of view. Is there any conection?

Hank

Hank: I am not Blahman but a very good friend of his. Great Trails has a rondezvous on one side of the creek and crafts on the other side. There are a lot of craft to look at. Then there is the Gun Shop where we work on Muzzle loaders, make powder horns and hunting bags. We have two rifling benches that should be operating.
The dates are: August 27&28 and September 3&4&5.
For those that don't know where Malvern is, it is located southeast of Canton, Ohio on State Route 43.

Hank and Rick,

Great Trails is a small rondeyvous. As Olie says, it is divided by a small creek (6 inches wide). On one side is the primitive group, trade blankets and such. On the other side are the crafters.

I am constantly puzzled as to the ingeniousness of women. Most of the women are "crafters". It is really surprising to see the creativeness they have when it comes to gluing popsicle sticks together!

"Gosh yes, Ma'am, that does sorta look like a Ford Bronco. How many popsicles did ya have ta eat to make them?"

Did you know that you could paint ity-bity pictures on a golf ball and sell them for ten bucks? Guys would smack the hell outa 'em, but women love to put them in there flower pots!

It really is ammazing!

At night, the crafters go home and the camp comes alive! There's music and laughter, round robins, visitin' ta other camps, enjoying well burnt meals, it's great!

Every year, one of our guys (he's the Leaprechaun) brings his "Chicken and Broccoli Surprise". It's chicken and broccoli in a sauce, no big surprise. After years of having this we decided it was time to put something else in the "surprise". We bought a bag of plastic army figures, ya know, the "get 100 for 50 cents " variety. Well, them ity-bity guys made their way into the surprise! That was a lotta fun!

Our guys run a booth called the "Gun Shop". In it we have several people working and a couple of rifling machines going. It is great for attracting crowds and is an excellent way to inform the public about muzzleloaders. We joke around with the crowd and invite them in to try their hand at the rifling machine....it is indeed fun!

That is just a small idea of what Great Trails is about!
