I have never used one, but here are some additional specs if you need them... 32" calculated wt. 6.27 pounds, 1 in 48 twist... 38" calculated wt. 7.45 pounds, 1 in 48 twist... Both should have .010 to .012 depth rifling... :) Note; The calculated weight is just the barrel itself, no breech plug, rib, sights, thimbles, tennon...

I like the .395 Hornady in my .40 caliber Ed Rayl barrel... I use a 40 grain charge of Goex 3fg, and have no complaints. It shoots true out to 50 yards, and when I go to shoot at 100 yards I just up the charge to 50 grains, (though I don't shoot at 100 yards very often anymore)... I really like the .40 caliber. It's a good round for small game, short range target shooting, and fun plinking... :) I might add that when I said, "I never used one", I was referring to the .40 GMB - IBS... When I decided to build a .40 caliber, I chose the Ed Rayl barrel as he would custom cut the twist I wanted which was 1 in 72 with round bottom rifling... It turned out to be everything I wanted it to be in a perfect barrel... Thanks Ed!!! :)

I use the pillow ticking, the heavier blue striped stuff... It measures about .017 thick, and I buy it by the yard at Wal-Mart... I have been using a 50/50 mix of T/C Bore Butter and Crisco Veg. Shortening as lube, but I'm anxious to try my 'Trappers Pure Mink Oil'... Had real good results with it in the .45 GMB last week...

LEJ, I had a GM 32" .40 on a Renegade about 15 yrs. ago and I just remember it being very heavy, shot Ok but I didn't want to pack it around.
