Just got the TOTW green mountain kit in 54 cal, 15/16ths diameter. It is the drop-in barrel for TC's Hawkins rifle.

Did just that, DROP-IN fit. Perfect. Makes my rifle into a more historic profile of a PC rifle with a single wedge.

Have not cleaned the factory crud off and out of it yet.

I have wanted one of these since they were offered.

Now to take it to the range for a good smokin in. If it shoots like I hope it will, then some refinish work is in order. New trigger guard and blackening the brass and browning the iron parts.

Any testimonials on this drop-in barrel kit?

Mine shot great right up to when it blew the clean out screw out.
Checked and there were no threads . Had to tap it out to 8x32 and found a new screw that was a hair over sized .. Locktite and just waiting for eye to heal from cat ur ack surgery.
Mine shot prb's into 4 inches at 100 with my old eyes.

The one I received recently had a lot of grease and some crud in the breech area.
Cleaned out pretty easy.
Had to send it back though because of a defect, but my replacement should be here Sunday.

I would be interested in the defect if you do not mind?

Also do these have the smaller breech?

Well reading other posts I see my questions are answered.

Have the dang flu so getting it cleaned and smoked up will take some time. Sure like the looks of it tho. Makes her look like a hunters rifle now.

Sure is bright tho. Definitely want a refinish job. Thinkin either a good browning of all metal parts or a nice vinegar finish. The factory stock has been modified and given a rubbed oil finish. The cheek piece has been removed and the comb lowered so the cheek slappin is taken care of. Not a fan of the brass tho. I have done brass blackening before and maybe need to commence with this brass as well...

I received my replacement barrel, have not shot it yet but looks better.
The breech plug was leaking gas from the plugged hole opposite.
Here is a pic of the defect, just a pin hole.
