quite some time back (early spring maybe) I seem to remember some guys saying they had the green mt. 54 smoothbore barrels coming for their t.c. guns. Just wondering if anyone does have these and how they shoot and any load data? I'd like to get one for my hawken in flint.

thanks, squint

Good Luck. I have had one on backorder since March.....

Every time I call them they say 12 more weeks...

I don't know how well your guns will shoot but I had a barrel that was on a rifle i built that was a .50 cal smooth barrel, that was a greenmountain barrel it shot goo but never tried it past 50 yards, hmm My firend whitebear has the barrel now, mybee he will chime in. bb75

I got the Green Mountain .62 caliber smoothbore for my Renegade. I really do not see the value of the .54 caliber smoothbore other then for squirrels or small game. I figure with the .62 I could turkey hunt and still load it down for small game as well.

It shoots shot reasonably well. Out to 25-30 yard I think I could knock a turkey off their feet. As for roundball, well the best group I ever shot that I considered hunting quality was at 43 steps. I tried shooting 75 yards like some of the smoothbore shooters claim to do and could not keep them on a white paper plate off a bench rest.

I've tried about every combination with a roundball to get them to shoot accurate. That does not mean I am not going to hunt deer with it, I have a spot where the shots should be under 35 yards, and at that distance, I know I can do it...

green mtn does not... but investarms did. i got one from gunbroker.com.
its oct-round and fits really nice in the hawken stock. and it swings and carries 100 times better than that nose heavy 50cal barrel
