Anybody watch the old western movies on this free over the air channel?
There are alot of old classics. I enjoy watching and looking for and trying to identify the old black powder firearms depicted in some of the films. See a lot of Colt 1875’s, and Sharps, and of course the colt peacemakers. It’s also fun to search the movie in the ‘Internet Movie Firearms Database‘ (google that and it will populate your search) for info on the actual guns used in the specific films and some of there background. Ok I’m a nut. Haha.

Jeremiah Johnson was on several times last month. Also movies like Quigley Down Under, and spaghetti westerns, some depicting cap n ball revolvers.

Oh yes, there is a lot of crap on the channel. But it’s also kind of fun pointing out the fake and falsehoods depicted by the movie companies regarding firearms depicted as period correct in the films.

I’ve seen the GRIT channel on dish…but I’ve never watched it. Will have to pay more attention going forward…

movies at night, weekends, and early morning. Western tv dramas during the day. Check out the “internet movies firearm database“ thing.

We watch it and I have fun with the historical time fram mistakes. Particularly with later era fire arms in pre 1873 times. The worst on recently was supposed to be end of Civil War time and all the firearms were Peacemakers and 94 Winchesters that never needed reloading.

I started watching it some the past couple years when I got a regular antennae after stopping cable. Its fun in some ways, and ive seen shows I never knew about that are decent, like Tales of Wells Fargo. and a few i hadnt seen or heard of in ages. Some old shows are pretty corny, but still fun and often better than anything else i can find on at the time.

Yes, lots of firearm goofs, most of the levers are 92s rather than 94s, the property companies seemed to have boatloads of them. I do see some actual 1873s and now and then some real 1860 type Henrys, not just mocked up 92s with the forearms removed.

I tend to watch much TV with the sound off and only half watching while tinkering around online, its less annoying overall unless something truly interesting comes on. I do keep my eye open for shows and movies filmed around Sedona Az and other places Im familiar with. I used to live in Flagstaff and rode and drove to Sedona hundreds and hundreds of times in the past and camped and explored all over the area. I plan to end up back around there at some point, so it helps keep my spirits up in that regard until I can get back around there and out of winter country.
