Hi Folks,
Yesterday was opening day for Grouse in our area. In between rain showers, the pup and I managed to kick up three. This was the slowest of them. Young Ruffed Grouse with nice white breast meat.
When the bird fell, the Dog and I had quite a disagreement as to whom the bird belonged to! Lost a few tail feathers; the bird, not me. :)

Ours opens on Sept 1. I have been looking forward to the season (any season) so I can get out. I'm going a little stir crazy.

Nice bird!!!!!

Black Hand

I'm stir crazy also---- TOO much wood smoke here in the Bitterroot to start before we get rain though. Good luck

Is that a rifle? (notice the sights) I was wondering about loading my 50 T/C hawken with shot. Anyone ever tried that in a rifled barrel????? Anyway I am going tomorrow morn. with my little 410 ( PC 2005) on opening day. :sorry:

Mr. Sidelock,
It is a smoothbore GM barrel on our Lyman Trade Rifle. Hope to replace the sights this winter with something a little more appropiate (smaller) for our style of hunting.
Best Wishes
