I saw a nice Leheigh rifle that Preacher posted on the forum. I didn't have a plan for so I made one. I got some peices of cardboard and glued it together till I got enough to make a pattern. I took a straight edge and drew a top line, then I measured down to get the drop I wanted at the butt plate, also the length of pull. I then draw in the top contoures, comb,wrist, length to comb, the way I want them. If you have a picture of a gun you want to copy, use this as your guide lines.
For the bottom of the stock, forarm, I take the thickness of the barrel plus 1/8- 3/16 below the barrel plus the ram rod diameter plus the thickness you want below the ram rod. This will give you the amount of wood you need for the forarm plus a little extra. Now for a full stock, you cut the rest of the stock the thickness of the barrel plus 1/8 - 3/16 below the barrel plus at least 1/2 the ram rod diameter. The length of the forarm should be about 38% of the barrel length (Golden Means 38% - 62%). You may want to check this length.
I take a design I like and kindof make it my way. Is that PC, I don't now and don't care. You know that when an apprentic went on his own he took the design of the master but did his own thing, made a few changes that he liked.
