I'm having a hell of a time trying to get an edge on my scrapers. Thought I saw somewhere there is a guide that helps insure the right angle to put an edge on scrapers but unable to find one. Anyone know where I can get one?

Never needed one. The angle you want is 90 degrees, so I s'pose you could use a try square. Do you hold the scraper in a vice, or are you doing this freehand? I use a vice, and it's no harder to maintain the angle with my burnisher than it is to drawfile a barrel.

Here's a website with detailed instructions.

I use "Red Devil" single edged razor blades {cheap} and initally remove the sharp edge and also contour whatever shape is req'd on a disc sander. I then soften the resultant burr w/ a medium stone and this edge scrapes a lot of wood w/ each pass. Of course I use these "scrapers" only for shaping {much better than file and chisel marks}and the final finishing is done w/ various grits of sandpaper.....Fred
