Had a rifle part shipped to my home address last month or so and it arrived at my post office one mile down the road, so what do they do but ship it back out and it had to do the hole loop thing with tracking to other postal spots and it finally arrived to me three days later and the darn thing was only a mile away ready to be delivered the first time. They have some real winners that work for them now days, Man Oh Man…

An acquaintance of mine works for UPS as a middle manager. He once told me - over some drinks - LOL that UPS's entire system is designed around business to business versus business to residence. (Or residence to residence). That's why they charge an extra fee to pick up a package at your residence. They will of course deliver to a residence. But they don't like it.
He mentioned that FED-X is somewhat similar in that they hand off the smaller packages to USPS (especially ones that will fit in a standard size mailbox) for delivery since USPS is at EVERY address six days a week. Apparently, delivery to a residence is a hassle for UPS and Fed-X.

USPS does not charge me a fee for picking up at my home. It's why I use it for shipping product.

Edit: Oops, I see UPS, not USPS.

Yes, USPS is very convenient in that you just go to your local P.O. Branch to ship. And their OTR trucks travel 7 days a week - including holidays. Or at least they use to. But my Brother told me they don't generally load the trucks on Mondays. Seems their delivery time has really suffered since COVID. Use to have the same mail lady for years. Now we have different ones. Even regular First Class mail is taking a couple days longer than it use to.

I wonder if they give new prospective employees an actual reading test ?

Not you and I, necessarily, but our society gets dumber with every sunrise.
Once upon a time we could count on common knowledge, shared understandings. Still pretty much true out here In the country and the large Amish community is BIG reinforcer. But we get drug reliant miscreants who could not navigate a rat maze but will try to take your stuff and don't care at all if you are dead or alive. Well. I am not going to break a sweat over their welfare. Sooner my tax dollars bury them than incarcerate them. And the organized groups that profit from them? Burning is too good.

Have heart, USPS lost three shipments in a row of my meds all having tracking numbers. The provider had a 4th shipment sent via FedEx I finally received. One of the original three shipments showed up about a year later in a muddy package. Your gun may show up yet. 🤞

FedEx broke the toe on an otherwise beautiful Al Hunkler fullstock and wouldn't settle. USPS recently misdelivered another order of my meds to an address several blocks away. Thankfully the people who got them delivered them to me. I've received multiple packages for a home with my address except on a diffent street. Don't bother to complain to USPS, it falls on deaf ears.

It seems shipping, no matter who one uses, is pretty much a craps shoot anymore.

Maybe things will get better with all the potential future government employees coming in across our Southern Border. Who knows, maybe the current crop of postal workers will find someone who speaks their language among the new hires.

Losing guns and such is inexcusable but: IMG_1971.png

They're all kind of broken, USPS especially after their last re-org. Latest debacle was an order from Midway USA. It went to St. Louis. OK but Kansas City would have made more sense. Then it went up to the Quad Cities. Then for some odd reason they sent it to Roanoke, VA; where I was born; 1000 miles in the completely wrong direction. Down to Greensboro, to Ohio, to Chicago, to Minneapolis, to Kansas City, then Sioux Falls and finally to me. That package had about 2500 extra miles on it! Before that a parcel bounced around between Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Sioux City (now pretty much just a storage stop), and KC. That package passed within 30 miles of my place 4 times, over the course of a week, before it finally got to me. A letter mailed to a neighbor gets put on a truck, taken 85 miles north, processed, put back on a truck to come right back to this town - that takes 3 days minimum. No wonder they need to always raise their rates...
And their people always claim that their system is the most efficient and cost-effective solution. Yeah right.

I sold an expensive airgun for a lodge brother on gunbroker a few years ago, a $3000 Feinwerkbau. Guy bought it so I shipped usps and got insurance. The guy that bought it informed me a few days later that it stopped movement in the system and asked that I call usps to see what was going on. They told me to file an insurance claim, which I did. They denied my claim and said they needed proof of value. I provided proof of value and then they denied my claim again for missing info but none was missing. This went back and forth for a while. The customer eventually asked me for a refund to which I said I would send a business check the next day. By the grace of God I awoke to an email from the customer that the package all of a sudden showed back up in tracking and was close to him. It was eventually delivered and the box was damaged and taped back up but gun was fine. Usps insurance is useless. They do not pay up.

Well I ordered a Pedersoli 12 gauge shotgun from Dixie Gun works 10 days ago. The carrier is the USPS.

Since the 25th, it shows it’s stuck “in transit” since leaving the Mephis distribution center. :(

For a week now it’s been like that. So I called the post office customer service line and after a 45 minute wait, they decided to place the case under investigation. I told them it was a firearm and valued at $1500 so hopefully SOMEBODY there takes it seriously.

I also called Dixie Gun Works the day previous and they seemed totally uninterested in helping me. Despite the wait the post office had good customer service.

I’m currently taking vacation and wanted to do some patterning and late season squirrel hunting with the shotgun, but such is not in the cards it seems.

Sorry for venting!! Take care all!
Having the same problem with an item it showed in transit for five days last location less than 100 miles from my house, it was then sent 30 miles south to a post office that sent it to atlanta, might have it next week

I'm nervous anytime I'm expecting any kind of mail delivery, especially firearms related. But, surprisingly, I placed an order with The Gun Works in Oregon Monday morning, Ms. Suzie called me up later with the Invoice total and said she'd mail it that afternoon. Well, it showed up in my Louisiana mailbox on Wednesday. I was pleasantly shocked. You just never know these days.

This is the reason the USPS won’t ship your cap and ball revolvers. Theft. I was told that by a retired USPS employee.
I had one recently delivered by them. First it was shipped by UPS and UPS sometimes uses something called surepost were they send it to the post office for final delivery.

I have 5 orders awaiting payment. 2 of those were sent out 27 of Feb.
No mail was delivered today? I rarely go a day without something.
SMH
Have a Bowie style knife it's supposed to go to Hanover PA. UPS via USPS. It still shows sitting in Bogart Georgia. Filed a claim waiting on a miracle.

If it doesn't show up this will be the first loss package in 4 years
