Heres my Traditions Kentucky Rifle kit. Its pretty much done. I have a few more brass doodads I want to put on the forestock.
The stain is Minwax Red Oak. I wanted it to look a little beat. You can see mor epics in my album of how I scorched the stock some before staining.

My image sizes ar etoo big to post so heres a link

Cherokee: Your link only gets me to the Photobucket log in page and it won't let me get past there.

If your in your Photobucket home, you can resize the photoimage there by selecting "edit" above the picture. This will open a window that shows the picture.
It's size will be shown above the picture.
Down below, there are 3 resize selections. Pick the percentage that will reduce the picture size to 650-700 pixels and say yes.
Then you can copy the http number of the photo and paste it into the "image" for your post. :)

Trying again.

Nice! I like how you made it uniquely yours, a much better look than just following instructions and ending up with a freshly minted look.

Same what Swamp Rat said. It has been "personalized" and that's good, IMHO. :redthumb:

Lookin good! :)

The neat thing about building your own gun is it lets a person get creative, and, when it's done there is a piece of the builder in it.
The gun, like the builder is unique. There is no other in the world that is exactly like either of them.

Now, you need to finish the project by taking it out and making smoke!! :) :)

Thanks guys. The pics dont show all the tacs in the stock.
I still want to dull the brass some but its definately different.

I like it, it is a very good example of how one can take a production gun or kit and make a very nice piece out of it, you did a top notch job there.

Dad gummit that is a purty gun! You did a great job Cherokee. Like the others said, it's uniquely yours. If it was in a stack with a bunch of others, you sure could pick it out.

I like the brass tacks too. I understand some folks put them on to help the grip on the rifle, kinda like checkering. Others added a tack for every deer (or man) they killed. I think it looks neat!

Wolf

Just used a propane torch. I waved it around the area very light and fast. Takes about 10 passes and you see it start to yellow. To close and it scorches black fast. Then on the notches I cut I used a marker in the cuts then stained.
