I want to make a single rack for my BP rifle

I want to make one out of steel

Have any of you made your own racks out of steel using things like horseshoes and the like?

I'm looking for inspiration.... and a reason to get out of the house and make sparks fly in the shop

I made some of these in the late 60's out of pony shoes. One goes against the wall, the two top screws drilled out for mounting to the wall, the second shoe dropped about midway & turned 90 degrees. You will need a lil notch ground into this shoe so it will mount flush to the wall shoe. Weld on each side. Slip a thin piece of rubber hose on the shoe to protect the gun, line with glued on felt, or wrap the shoe in leather as I did mine as I thought it looked better than hose or felt.. Here is a rough drawing of it. Takes about 15 min to make a pair of them.

it has been awhile since I first posted the question about some ideas on making my own gun rack.
thanks to Bird dog I got my inspiration.

I wanted real simple, real cheap, yet nice

I used a scrap piece of hickory wood, ran it through a planer, wiped on some danish oil and welded the horseshoes and mounted them.

I like it, I hope you do too!

I made a frame of some scrap 2x4s laying around, drilled some holes in appropriat places, put some dowels in the holes that stuck out about 4 or 5 inches and the rack was done. Took less than 20 minutes and most of that was spent scrounging through my scrap wood.
