I came across this really interesting advertisement for gunsmith Edward Annely in NYC in 1748. Notice how they were already proofed, and includes birding guns with bayonets, the "right sort" of Indian guns. One of his guns appears in Neumann's book "Battle Weapons..." on page 153, its a club butt with Dutch hardware, which goes to show you this type extended outside of New England :thumbsup:

He didn't list his address or phone # in the ad.
Thats a shame I have to go to NYC for a meeting on Monday and would like to stop in the shop and have a look. Think he takes Visa ?
 
Mr Annely doesn't seem to be responding to my calls or emails :shocked2:. You might want to try the Cranch boys next time you are in Boston. With those prices their stock won't last long.
