Why not do it yourself it looks a straight forward job . It is surprizing what one can do and you get more satisfaction for doing it yourselfI’ve acquired a Liege double shotgun, and was looking for recommendations for a gunsmith to check it out and possibly do some work on it. I’m in coastal SE Georgia. Thank you.
I thought that I did. I started cleaning it up and was surprised at the amount of rust and pitting in the barrel. I wanted a gunsmith to look at it and make sure it is safe. I also have a modern Pedersoli Classic .12 gauge sxs.Are you wanting to shoot it? If so , find a muzzleloading gunsmith. You may find that the $ you spend on it could buy you a nice modern reproduction to shoot.
I started, and got everything cleaned up as best I could. Worried about safety if I shoot it.Why not do it yourself it looks a straight forward job . It is surprizing what one can do and you get more satisfaction for doing it yourself

Thank you!If the bores are severely pitted, you could get them relined. It depends on how much money you want to put into it. If it was a high class expensive in its day shotgun, it might be worth it, but with a plain common one , I wouldn’t bother.
They ring like church bells; beautiful sounds! No dents. I’ve scrubbed the bore quite a bit, and there’s a good bit of pitting.By the sxs Aficionados it is called a JABC, just another Belgium clunker.
First hang the barrels by a string alone and rap them with a screwdriver handle unless the ring like Church bells forget about it. When they buzz fixing them is big bucks even if the bores are perfect.
If they ring well, how are the bores? Will clean up fine or are they dented? Every dent is minimum 35-40 dollars to fix. Some will say buldges but they won't pass the the wrap test.
Now no dents, good how much rust? Can they clean up and have pits? Pits can be removed with a Sunnen hone but how much barrel left in Thousands of an inch? Under .0015 I will pass on shooting thank you.
Add all the costs up, the small dollar purchase adds up to the same or more for a perfect gun.
Ability to do all the work yourself also includes the cost of the proper equipment to do so.
