This is a very nice, vintage contemporary .50 cal. Tennessee style percussion rifle built by respected East Texas gunsmith H.L. Miller. One of his apprentices (someone on this forum) said:
“Henry Leon Miller was the ML gunsmith who taught me to work on muzzleloading shotguns on weekends in his shop when I was in my twenties. Mr. Miller was very gifted in building, carving and engraving, and his standards of craftsmanship were very high.” Mr. Miller also built a set of Bi-Centennial rifles, one of which is for sale on Matt Avance’s website. Another example you can view for reference.
The rifle has a 36” browned barrel and a LOP of 13.75”. The bore is nice. Wood is nicely grained Walnut with a few minor scuffs and scratches, It has a stout fiberglass ramrod. Based on stamping, I believe this rifle was Miler’s fifth rifle of 1985. Asking $750 SHIPPED in CONUS. More to Alaska and Hawaii. More photos available.
