Half cock wil not hold.

Hi,I just cleaned my 45 cal single shot pistol.I just found out that on half cock and I pull the trigger,it fires.How can I fix that?.squib

Either the nose of the sear isn't fully entering the halfcock notch or the notch itself is sheared off.

You need to pull the lock and see what's going on. May be something simple like gunk in the notch or a loose sear spring or something more complicated like replacing the tumbler.

Yep, take the lock out and see if it functions out of the pistol. IIRC you have an old CVA? The sear noses on those locks have a tendency to snap off under certain circumstances and is not readily noticeable. They sometimes break off so cleanly it is hard to see the break. Mine broke as a result of me pulling the hammer back past 1/2 cock and then releasing it to "snap" out the spent cap.If that is the issue you can get the part from Deer Creek.
