I am building a rifle from parts that are laying around. What I have is a right hand Siler small cap lock a 13/16 G.M. barrel and a left hand p++ maple half stock. My question is would it be better to (1) trade the lock for a left handed lock, (2) build the gun with the right hand lock and rasp off the left hand cheek piece or (3) build the gun with thr right hand lock and leave the cheek piece on? I am right handed. :hmm:

Rasp off the lefty cheekpiece. Seeing it's a half stock, it would be a later rifle and some didn't have a cheek piece.....Fred

If the stock has any cast off, you wouldn't want to use it right handed. It likely doesn't, but sight down it to see if the butt angles off to the left before removing the cheekpiece. It may be something you might want to trade or sell to a left hander.
