Hammer Stalls

Do you use a 'hammer stall', and if so, during which muzzleloading activity?

Yes, shooting in damp weather, I'll pop it on to keep my frizzen dry between shots...

Can't ya also use one as a safety? Slip the hammer stall over your frizzen and you can more safely carry your flinter primed and on half cock.

I could be completely wrong though. I don't really have any hands on experience with a flinter.......YET!! :winking:

Yes, see this old post on hammer stalls, it is mainly a safety devise...

They are easy to make and work well as a safety devise...

I leave a little flange on the bottom of mine 3/8" or so on both sides that covers the pan and helps keep it dry.
