An example of the old time gun smith"s art. Pistol made from scratch, stock cut from curly maple rifle stock blank, cut down and formed out a pistol blank, and carved out stock then worked down barrell chanel and lock mortice.... eventually assembled. Hand made large bow trigger guard, trigger and belt hook, small steel nose cap. Heavy swamped barrel. .54 cal. rifled bore. Hand rubbed linseed finish, that really shows the curl in the wood. One small hairline crack where the ram rod chanel begins, about half inch long . It never split out and I didn't bother it. If it is bothersome ,a gunsmith can clamp it and epoxy it.
I got it over 30 some years back at an N.M.R.A. rendezvous. Found it on a trade blanket, did some haggling with the maker and walked away with it. I shot it.,. several times, shoots good at a man sized target about 15 yards. remember no front sight. I carried it to every rendezvous I went to. Always had two or three skinners wanting to buy it. My health took a turn about five years ago and cant get to primitive shoots or rendezvous. I hope some buckskinner might give it a good home. I hope the pictures capture the beautiful wood and fittings. 500 plus shipping and insurance
