Maybe I'm nitpickin........okay I'm nitpickin'(gees i'm jes happy they mention ml's in the course! :applause: ) anyways in back of the booklet, describes various things and explains others...def of hangfirer is "a partially fired gun" :hmm: again,nitpickin..but i'm not sure i like the way thats worded..exactly.....seems if it were "partially fired" it'd be done tryin to fire...and all that i've had were not done(by a long shot :shocked2: )! but that's me nitpickin or is it knitpickin? yer thoughts? on hangfirers not k nitpickin! :rotf: RC

That's definetely messed up. A gun can be "partially fired", as much as a woman is only a "little pregnant". Either it is or it isn't.

They would be better describing as hangfire as a delay between pulling the trigger thus igniting the primer (cap or powder) and the shot going off.

The NY handbook definition of "a partially fired gun" is describing the term "hangfire" as a process, whereas the "delayed ignition" definition is more descriptive of an event.
Getting pregnant may also be considered a process since the egg should attach within the uterus for the process to be completed. If the egg doesn't attach, then the women may not be considered to be pregnant, but rather still in the process of becoming, much like the process of a hangfire. :hmm:
With a hangfire, if the process doesn't complete, then it's considered a 'misfire" and not a hangfire [a.k.a. miscarriage]. Since it's no longer capable of completing the firing process, thus by definition it's no longer partially fired, but rather has misfired. :v
I like the NY definition just fine, it's only a hangfire if it's "hanging", as in the process of hanging.
