tried to file their muzzles to move P.O.A or am I the only one?
There has been alot of questions asked here about it or alot of people have learnt recently about it but nobody has given a progress report after trying it.
Is it me but do I get the impression that some souls feel they may be about to cross over into the realms of eternal damnation for taking the plung with their muzzles and files :shake:
Let me tell you guys those missing thous from the end of my tubes don,t leave me feeling dirty and defiled( :rotf: )and I can not tell a drop in vel either.
Ok I,m done now but I was hoping to learn from the other folks with P.O.A issues :surrender:

I,m not calling you or anybody chicken Sir-I have too much respect for a fellow front stuffer, I just mean generally and to no one individual-whats stopping ya :v

I haven't tried it. I don't think I will ever need to. Barrel bending has always done it fer me. Each to his own methods, I reckon.

Truethfully, I am a little chicken to file on my barrel. I really like my shotgun and use it constantly in the fall. Like yourself, I was hoping to hear a few more anecdotes relating others experience. My patterns are just a little low, instead of the bead, I have to use the barrel for leading a bird. I am so used to this that I am afraid to mess with success. Maybe this winter after quail season is over.

Slowpokebr, thats not so bad if your pattern is a tad low and you can get around it but it,s a differant matter if your charge is thrown to the side as it did for me

What made me consider filing was the use of roundball. It's a little more annoying when it hits four inches low.

Yeah, I was hoping my file work would of helped there too but last time I tried it was poor, I could experiment but wont as I don,t really hold much hope for my Pedersoli 12 double and would prefere to get a single barrel if I have to in the future! You have to understand that in Britain there are legal issues with shooting ball for anything other than target so if they stopped me from say using a modern rifle but let my still make smoke-well then it would be different, shall we say-they would be forcing my hand. Use to have a Pedersoli 12 Mortimer, that was a good ball shooter and I would not like to be a deer at 50 paces in fact some rabbit did not like it too  Oh and it shot to P.O.A. I gave to my freind as a gift.

Its a lot easier and quicker to raise a POI by filing down the front sight, or holding up more front sight in the rear sight notch, when shooting round ball, than filing the muzzle to raise the POI. Also, always first consider increasing the powder charge to raise POI. Then, check on how good the OP wad is sealing the bore. Often using a larger diameter OP wad will raise the POI dramatically, as the powder burns more efficiently, increasing chamber pressure and velocity of the ball.

Bend your barrel. It's easy.
Easy enough with a single Mike, not so easy with doubles.
I tried the muzzle filing thing with a 16 gauge double some years ago and had no success at all. A lot can be done by adjusting the load without any modification to the gun and a lot more can be done by reaming the chokes while forcing the reamer off to one side, but Pedersoli doubles with chrome lined bores make reaming very difficult. Generally speaking one can find a load which will shoot to point of aim and if it requires two different loads for the two barrels that is a bit of extra bother but not the end of the world.
