Of all the guns I have, my 50 cal Hawken is becomming my loyal friend. Her name is Rachel and I enjoy her more then all the rest.
I have been out the last couple of weeks looking for sheads and she goes on every trip. Getting used to the weight and feel of the gun. What a joy to shoot also!
Took my grand son with me over the week end and he had a ball shooting it at 50grs, he's only 6! I see a future muzzle loader comming along. I wish some one made a smaller lighter 32 or 36 cal for kids. Never seen one sold or made. I think it would be great for kids to get into bp with.
My "modren" guns are one thing, but my ml's are carring a bit of history.
When i'm out in the woods up on a point someplace,I wonder if another man stood there 200 years ago like me with rifle in hand looking out over the same valley? Did he carry a flinter or capper? It's like going back a couple hundred years.
It's a good feeling!
