Another gun inherited from my father. This was a kit I believe. He built/assembled it back in the 70s or 80s and never fired it. It says "CMC" on the bottom with a serial number.

Anyone know what current fair market value would be on this?

Of all the guns whose value just keeps going up,up,up........

This ain't one of them. If someone will pay you $100, jump on the offer, and send them a Christmas card. I'd guess more like $60-$75, tops.

Ah the Classic Arms New Orleans Ace,
Sold in the 70's for $25, in the 80's for $35
Today it's $125; http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=868
But being familiar with these,, uhm``"kit's",,,
I wouldn't offer more than a good lunch and a hand shake.,
Best keep it un-fired as a memento from your Dad. Maybe get a shadow box and hang it on the wall with a winning poker hand in the box with it.

For what it will bring I think I would just hold onto it. My kids and I have my Dad's guns and it's always a special time when we shoot them. Geo. T.

I own a couple of these pistols. I had to tinker with them to get them to shoot but they are now reasonably reliable. They are not high quality pieces but they can be fun range guns. I load mine with 20 - 22 grains of powder under a patched .433 ball. Not accurate beyond several feet but then again they weren't intended to be.

IMO, this model of Classic Arms pistols is perhaps the best of the bunch.
That's not saying too much because their pepperbox is a pile of junk. I know because I own one of them.

That said, this pistol can make a real neat shadow box gun if the suggestion made above is used.
Based on the "Ace" name I think I might use 4 Aces and a King of Spades. :)

Shooting it can be fun too but it should be something in the range that the gun was built for.
Maybe a large watermelon at 6 feet?

Zonie, I think you hold the Classic Arms pepperbox in undeserved high regard. :rotf:

that was my first BP gun! i remember after the first 50 shots the brass ramrod pipes fell out of the dovetails. fun little gun to shoot though. not worth much, $50, maybe more like supersized meal at mc d's.

I've figured out how to hold the grip just so and use the hammer as a crude sight so that I can hit a paper plate at about 7 or 8 feet.

Mine also has a rifled barrel. My wife bought it for me when they first came out. It was offered in rifled or smoothbore originally. I got it rifled because I wanted to shoot for accuracy. :rotf:
