Hi,every time I use linen thread to keep my holes lined up on my ball bags,they seem to unwravel.I have found something that works great.so I deceided to pass it along.This is my bag made fom embossed leather

Are you waxing your thread? I've never had any problems with unraveling, either.

Saying that however, I can recall a couple of situations where ties would have been handy. Thanks for the insight. I'm filing it under "a good idea to have when you need it."
 
I never awl punch all of the holes in a project prior to sewing. I punch as I sew sections. I hold the pieces together with thread knots at various locations or use paper clamps.

Maybe your not using the right type of knot! Always nice to see somone's method on this forum.That's what this forum is all about. Learning and sharing idea's! :thumbsup:

I use a good old granny knot. Square knots can "flip" under side pressure and turn into useless half hitches, but a granny is going to stay put till you cut the thread. After all these years tying squares rather than grannies though, it still takes a moment's thought to tie the granny.
