I received this gun when my Dad passed away. He was a collector. I can't find any name but did see a number on the barrel. Photos are better.
Black powder shotgun....haven't seen one like it yet on the internet????

I'm only guessing here and could easily be wrong. The Northeast, specially MA & NH, seems to have been the center of firearms innovation and especially so when it requires machine work. I would date it 1850 or later. It very remotely resembles an Allen & Thurber and it would be interesting to see the interior of the lock. Whatever it is I like it.

Thank you so much for the help. Here is your inside look. Hammer up and down. Also the other side of the barrel.

The internals are not like an Allen & Thurber and look to be better designed. I imagine the coil trigger spring is a somewhat recent replacement. It looks like the mainspring is attached to the bottom tang and that is covered by the buttstock. After seeing the inside I like it even more.

Agreed. It's very Allen & Thurber "esque"..., so I wonder if a smaller manufacturer upgraded the A&T rifle works, or simply came up with what looks to be an improvement to avoid any "patent" disputes with A&T ? The A&T action has the hammer fully exposed, external to the action.

The similarities are very close to mine.
I would also say manufactured around the new englander area, 1850’s looks about right.
