The hand mortar (TRS style) with rifle style buttstock, 5 or 6 inch barrel length, and 2.5 (maybe?) inch bore.
Have seen pictures for years, some even integrated with the pommel on a saddle....WHAT IN THE NAME OF %^&$% does that thing shoot? and do you aim it?
After seeing the TRS version, I am still traumatized!
I gotta have one now.
Anyway, what gives?
I did a little research, but can someone elaborate on the grenade itself, or the use of grapeshot etc.

It would kill just about anything that is within the effictive range, and it's not really "aimed", just pointed in the general direction of what you need to shoot...

I would suspect this would be the forerunner to the blunderbuss, so it would make do as a coach weapon...

It shoots a round fused grenade with a charge of black powder inside. You light the fuse, drop the grenade in the loaded barrel and fire the gun. You generally "lob" the grenade in the direction of the bad guys..

How many hand mortars were chucked into a mob- lock, stock, and motherlovin' barrel when that flinty failed to go?!!
No damn wonder they are so rare! :rotf:

What about that one I saw attached to a saddle?
