Just finished a new hawk today. Cast head with a turned bowl (bronze) pewter bands, silver wire inlays, ivory name oval, African blackwood cap & mouth piece and burl stopper.

Very nice..

But let me ask you a question ,no,its a serious one..

The man that wore that around his waist band, what would the rest of his get up be. I mean his style of clothing. Or is this something made for the collector..
Twice....

I guess it is probably not PC but I kinda make stuff that pleases me or strikes me at the moment.
I'm sure someone will have an opinion which is fine with me.
I dress as a longhunter because I am kinda long, 6'7" so my answer is it will be in my sash when in the woods trekking or hunting. The cross in the blade was one of those brain f$#@ts so there you have it.
Dusty :surrender:

The guy I learned to make fixed blades from back in the early 70's made couple Hawks for the Movie Jeremiah Johnson. Yours I think it's good enough for a movie set or good enough for some collectors safe...
Thanks.

the guy wouldn't be Ron Wilson by any chance

You should get gas more often..Thats one of the best hawks I`ve ever seen

Thanks guys I appreciate the kind words. I started makin this hawk while recouping from a run in with 2 of my dogs. They were running through the deep snow collided with each other and the into my knee. :nono: The results were torn cartilage and torn ligament in my left knee and torn cartilage in the left wrist. I will probably end PT next week since things are going well now. I will restart working on a 16 Ga. Club Butt in hopes of getting it done by fall hunting season.
Thanks again for taking a peek.
Dusty

didnt know ron personally. i ordered a hawk from him in the early 70's, i believe i paid around $50. beautiful piece of work. a few months later i got another catalog from him.... sticker shock. he had crossed out the printed prices and put in new one... example- the hawk that i had previously purchased was now 10 times as much, $450 as was everything else in his catalog.... contacted him cause i thought it was a mistake. the reply was " i made the hawks for the johnson movie, and now i'm a hawk maker for hollywood and those are the prices" go figure.
