You are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Hawken Classic on August 25-27, 2023 at the Historic Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, Missouri. This event is a Rendezvous event but a little different than the typical Rendezvous. We will have a Rendezvous match that includes shooting, fire starting, and hawk and knife throw. Period dress is required to participate in the competition and a $25 valued prize is the entry fee. An aspect of this event that makes it different is the educational aspects. We will have seminars on the Historical aspects of the Hawken Rifle and other period subjects by guest speakers. There will also be major displays of original and contemporary Hawken and other Missouri rifles that will probably not be seen anywhere else. This website contains more details about the event: Hawken Classic 2023 - Gemmer Muzzleloading Gun Club
This is a special year because the Hawken Rifle was made into the official state Rifle for the State of Missouri. Bob Browner made a Hawken Rifle for this event and it will be at the Hawken Classic. Numerous Hawken rifles will have raffles going onto celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the Hawken Rifle. The Hawken Shop will be attending again from Washington state. Lots to see and do. We hope you can make it and enjoy the event with us.

Here are some photos of the Missouri State Rifle built by Bob Browner.
In the pictures, the top rifle is an original that was used to make the bench copy chosen to to be the Missouri Rifle. Bob did a great job to recreate the look, and perhaps more importantly, the feel of the original rifle.

I wish I could attend. My employer would disagree. I hope in 7 years this will still be an event.

I'll be delivering the firewood tomorrow, last year I brought 3 cords which was more than needed this year I'll bring 2 cords and see how it works out. From the looks of the forecast, we won't need a campfire to stay warm...🤣
