Hawken nose cap.

I am getting ready to pour my 1st nose cap and was wondering how long it should be. The Brass T/C cap is about an inch or so. Should this be the length I should be shooting for. Also any words to the wise before I make the attempt?

I did it.It seems to have worked out. Nees some clean up, but not the mess I expected.
