Was at a gun/antique show yesterday and picked up a nice 6 point blanket for a real good price. Nice addition to my rendezvous camp. :)

Over the 20 + yrs. I was able to hunt the January Pa. flintlock M/l season ,I had a red H.B. capote , and a green one. Wore wool hunting pants with them ,and was so warm , you could lay down in the snow and nap w/o getting cold. The good old days.
Except for a divers wet suit. wool is the only thing I know that will still keep you warm if wet.

Some people forget hats. An uncovered head will loose a lot of heat in winter. Add rain or snow and bare headed is just plain stupid. Once again I prefer wool. Your John Deere or athletic team snatch cap won't do diddly for your comfort or survival in a bad winter snow.

First year after my wife and I got married I took he to a rendezvous in Kansas. It was march or early April, dipped below freezing.
My wife was not taking well to blankets alone, and was almost on the edge of shivering.
She was snuggled up against me but couldn’t stand her head under the covers. About the tenth time she told me she was freezing and after ten times telling her cover up your head, she gave in and pulled the balancers over her head.
Bingo
Within minutes she said ‘wow this is warm’
Told ya so I said, when it’s cold and wet outside your always warm and dry in wool.
I saying I repeated to her when ever it was cold.
Some years later we went to the mid America rendezvous in New Nada Arkansas that year. That was in June but it turned off with a cold snap. I had to work in the middle of the event and so was gone a couple of days. I had friend look in on her to help with the fire and stand by if needed.
As it cooled down the first night my wife said about how chilly it was going to get. My friend RedBeard-Dennis Pesola was quick with a come back,
Wheat it’s cold and wet outside your always warm and dry in wool
My wife was not amused
