Well I took a shot at a nice fat 4 point buck today.
I watched him for about 15-20 minutes with no shot. He circled around behind me on a hill and I had to take a shot on one knee unsupported.
He was raising and lowering his head and twisted and I shot. Smoke cleared a miss. I couldnt belive I missed.
I heard him running for another state. My smoke pole really caught him off guard.
I searched no blood no hair nothing.
I searched a few times later on his escape route and nothing.
I wish I had a picture of him he was a nice one.
Well thats the first shot I ever took at game with a flintlock.

Is that the flinter you built?

I've been at the range with you, the deer have nothing to worry about :rotf: :blah:

haha yes it is. My next plan of attack is to use my powder flask as a diversion. I will light a fuse leading inside it and throw it, then in the confusion I will rush the deer and whack it with the rifle. :rotf:

I took a shot at a nice one (3-point Western, 8-point Eastern) at about 60 yards between squalls in a snowstorm this year. Drilled a perfect 54 caliber hole in a stump I didn't see in front of his lungs. I got him the next day, but it didn't matter. My hunting buds gave me a knickname already tagged onto one of the moderators here, and it looks like it's gonna stick.

So what will they call you after you light that horn? Won't matter, cuzz you won't be able to hear them.

Good one! IM thinking my name will be Danger, or SOB!:rotf:

My problem is I cant shoot for manure without a rest anymore. My eyes are getting foggy at 40 years of age.
Not really bad but I can tell every now and then.
I can hit pretty good with my rest I was out of my ellement.
Its raining today and I have appointments so I cant go hunting but tomorrow I should be out. If its a sloppy wet day I might leave the flinter home and take out the percusion.

That was just your "fouling shot" right? Now you're good to go. Keep after him.
