How many Brown Bess users do we have here, I see reference to many people with them, just wondering how many will say: I have one?

I'll start:

Hi, my name is Musketman and I am a Brown Bess owner and user...

Hi, My name is Squire Robin and I have a Brown Bess.

PS: If I admitted using it I would have to register it with the police, nuff said

Hi, I'm Wildcat. I've been following the smoothbore forum for some time now and have gained a wealth of knowledge from it and I'm proud to say I have and shoot a smoothbore repro Bess. (a Pedersoli Bess carbine) It's so much fun, that even though I suck at accuracy with the smoothbore, I've hardly fired my flint rifle since I got the Bess. Like Musketman, I can shoot a one hole, one shot group at 25 yds. Thanks for all the help thus far.

Hi, my name is makanaut and I also own and shoot a 2nd model Bess. :) wow, that wasnt as hard as I thought.

Musketman:

Bessie (Short Land pattern) came from a Pedersoli kit that I built a few years back.

The only problem I have had with her is the difficulty of clamping the slowmatch in the serpentine. :: :bull:

Huh? What do you mean it is called a cock, not a serpentine? What do you mean a black rock goes into the jaws? ::

Once upon a time...

There was an idiot in Texas who bought one of dixie Gun Works Long Land Pattern 46" barreled Besses made in England they peddled back around '79 or so and in a fit of terror, or perhaps it was just gas, thought, "Gee, this would look neat if I cut it off to about 24 inches or so....

Good thing somebody stole it. Otherwise I'd have to look at what I'd done way to often!! Still have some extra barrel front though!

Now, is step two the admission that you have no control over this problem and turning it over to a higher power?

I have a replica of a First Model Bess. I'd like to hang it on the wall at work.

Unless you are the boss, most places frown on guns in the work place, be them real or not...

Ask first to be syre...

turning it over to a higher power

Hope that doesn't mean the guy who lives on the second floor and seems to have discovered big "woofers" and Twisted Sister this week? Would like to put one across his bow!

I have a Second Model Brown Bess. I use it not only for reenacting, but I also fire it live regularly. Mine is 30+ years old, and has been defarbed, so I'm not completely sure who made it. I just picked up another smoothbore, a .62 calibre, and I will put some more info on here after I finish doing my research for it.

I'M HAWK2 AND I HAVE A 2ND MODEL DUBLIN CASTLE . LAST GUN I BOUGHT , AND THESE DAYS CAN'T BRING MY SELF TO SHOOT ANYTHING ELSE . IT'S COMIN' WITH ME TO THE HARDWOODS FOR DEER AND I'M GOIN' TO DRAG IT WITH ME TO HUNT NORTHERN SWAMP DONKEYS THIS SEASON!
