My name is Elizabeth, and I love to collect, shoot, and hunt with guns. I am not really sure where to post this, but I have an old percussion cap muzzleloader that I would like to find a little bit more about. I know that it belonged to my grandfather's grandfather, and dates back to around the Civil War. All I know is that my grandfather had to cut off several inches due to warping and rebore it to a .36 caliber, and that he used it to squirrel hunt during the Depression. Where may I post pictures so that I can possibly get more information on it? I was tickled to find this site! What a great resource!

welcome to the forum, lots of great people here you can ask about your rifle in the percusion forum.

Welcome Elizabeth!...wanted to greet you as well.Just joined recently myself and was beginning to wonder if there were any lady shooters on this forum or it was a "stud-farm" :haha: (no offense to anyone..) Good for you and look forward to sharing info and BP experiences with you in my journey..Dan :v

Thanks for the warm welcome. LOL I actually like to hunt MORE than my own hubby. He is willing to sit just long enough to try for a deer on opening weekend, and then he's done. I bow and gun hunt deer and turkey, and use rimfire with squirrels. As for collecting..... Well, let's just say that he's lucky that I like a good, round variety as well. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion for the percussion discussion. I thought about placing it there to start with, but I thought I might introduce myself first.

I kind of forgot a few things.... I live in the foothills of the Ozarks in Southeast Missouri. We have an Angus X cattle ranch, and I work every weekend in a local hospital as a laboratory technician. I love to hunt and fish, horseback ride, and pretty much any thing you can do outside. I also am interested in wildlife photography, and astronomy, including astrophotography. I just recently purchased a nice telescope and mount, and am looking forward to being about to use my Canon with it. My hubby and I have a small son who will be three in a couple of months. I have to leave for work in a few minutes for a 12 hour shift, so I will post those pics in the appropriate area when I get back!

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
you should post fotos in the 'percussion rifle' section since evidently that is what you have.
sounds as if the stock is the part that is 'shortened' and that's common on older guns,

Howdy Elizabeth.
That's a pretty name. (It's my daughters too  )
