Hello everyone, new to muzzleloading and obviously this site. I'm a Deputy Sheriff and my world and social discussions naturally revolve around the latest and greatest technology with firearms. So I'm interested in taking it back to basics with some BP action.

Hi and welcome to the forum and the world of black powder.

Just look at muzzles as the latest and greatest technology of their times and be aware they are addictive.

I retired from law enforcement Jan 2013 and now have more time to shoot the "old ones".

Just have fun and be safe.

Howdy from Texas and welcome. Also retired deputy after 22 years with the SO. Spend most of my time shooting now, my favorite thing to do after eating, and am more than glad to be retired from LE. Got a brother that is a small arms instructor in GA at FLETC. Go see him some time and he'll take you shark fishing. Let's shoot.

Welcome from Arkansas! Time to leave the world of 9mm and take a break in the black! Hope you find all your answers here, its a great hobby, and keeps retired folks out of mischief! Treestalker. :hatsoff:

Welcome aboard...lots of stuff here. Learn something almost every day here and I've been playing with black powder for 50+ years.

Just to give you an idea of where black powder can go in law enforcement, long time pal worked for Richardson P.D. many moons ago when all LEOs toted wheel guns. Charley touched one off in a concrete, multi-story parking garage one night. Somehow, one of his black powder reloads got in his duty ammo. His Colt New Service was in .45 Colt and the hammer dropped on 40 grains of FFg with a 250 grain SWC! Charley told me the thing sounded like a 75 mm pack howitzer, lit the place up like a strobe light and made a smoke cloud you could hide a VW van behind. Point being, the perp was frozen in place, standing in his own puddle of brake fluid! Tell your friends! Thought you'd enjoy a rather interesting story! :haha: Welcome again!
