Hello everybody
My name is Uwe, I am now 50 years old and live in Germany, Southern Bavaria to be more precise. I have been interested in muzzle loading guns since I first was travelling the great plains and crossed the big devide in 1987. I bought my first rifle in the US that year...in California, and I still have it.
I have also started re-enacting that year and have done it ever since. I have to admit though that the periods have changed a lot since then. Starting as a "trapper" I moved on to the "war between the states" and the 18th century. Being from Europe and also having a starong intrest in technical things I ended up in WWII and lately have been jumping from C-47s over Normandy and Holland.
Cilvil War and other US history is still in my mind though and from time to time I still slip back in time to 1863 or 1780...or so. I currentl own the following muzzle loading guns:
Hatfield flint lock cal.45 bought in the US in 87. This rifle one day will be barried with me;-)
US Model 1855 Harpers Ferry musket, repro with working 55 lock (my re-enacting musket)
original US Model 1861 Springfield musket
original Austrian Lorenz musket, cal.54 with US 63 hammer (came from the US that way)
original 1853 Enfield musket built 1859
I once had a cal.54 (53) Uberti Hawken that I sold years ago much to my regret nowadays...
I am looking forward to good discussions here
cheers
Uwe
