Hello All -

New Flintlock owner/hunter here from North Central PA (Potter County). Just wanted to stop in and say hello and introduce myself. I have been wanting to hunt with a flintlock for several years now but never got up enough ambition to actually do it. I am a die hard traditional bowhunter that loves the longbow and wooden arrow and figured the flintlock was a natural fit. I just bought a new Lyman GPR 54.cal rifle last weekend. I will be doing a ton of practicing this year to be ready for muzzleloader season here in PA. This forum looks to be very informative and I am sure that there will be lots of questions as I enter into the the world of flintlock shooting.

Thanks,

Ron Vought

Welcome, Ron! Always good to see another Pennsylvanian. It sounds like you're a prime candidate for flint fever! Feel free to ask lots of questions and put in your own 2 pence!
:hatsoff:

Hey Ron:

Your name sounds familiar, I believe we've met at the first Lancaster E.P.R.
You've come to the right place, if you have any questions just sound off someone will have the answers or can get them for you.
There is also a spot here for discussing bows where your knowledge and experience will be greatly appreciated.

Keep yer eyes peeled;

Willcommen! You will find shooting flintlocks as addictive as traditional archery. A healthy number of us do both. BJ Habermehl-Northumberland Co Pa

Traditional archery and flintlock shooting seems to go hand in hand. I noticed that there are a few people that post here that are also traditional bowhunters. I think that I will feel right at home here.
