Just found this site today. Looks like a fine fire to sit around and palaver a spell.

Been building custom flinters and doing historical trekking for a several years. Now doing more cowboy action shooting and hobby gunsmithing all type of pre 1899 firearms.

Thanks! Joss

Well, let's see. I've built several flinters, mostly all Pennsylvania (various county) style. Normally using Colerain or Getz barrels, Siler or L&R locks in kit form. A lot of the furniture I make from scratch. Normally I use a rough cut stock blank. I try to use very little power tools. Normally the only power to would be a drill press.
Now that I'm working on Colt SAA's and Winchesters, either original or replica, I use a lathe, mill, torches and drill press.

It's been about 5 years since I built my last flinter and it was a pistol. Here's a link to photo's of the pistol.
