hi , I just got a pietta 1858. Only trouble is I can't find no.10 caps or pistol powder / pellets. Is there a reputable online store that I can get this stuff at ?

You can by replacement nipples that take #11 caps, Slickspring or something like that. I use both Triple 7 and Pyrodex powder in mine, that should be available everywhere. The caps, call around to local gun shops.

Who makes/carrys the nipples? I can find plenty of #11. Are you using pyrodex p or rs ?

Stick to the last 3 45D listed, you should be fine. If you have trouble, you can switch out your nipples for Slixshot nipples, they fit the above caps perfectly and perform as claimed. In the past, Stantheman has recommended some nipples from Track of the Wolf, but I haven't tried them. Yet... Maybe he'll chime in.
Midsouth Shooter Supply has CCI magnum #11s in stock, $109.99/1000 + shipping and hazmat fees. Best to order as many as you can swing, or get a group buy going with friends.
As far as powder, I use black, but those two will work fine. Go with 777 if you can, Pyrodex will work fine, but it is VERY CORROSIVE, it demands a thorough cleaning.

i recently had the same problems. i went to the slixshot website, ordered #11 nipples for my pietta 1858, put them on and no more problems using #11 nipples. i am using pyrodex p, and found it pretty easily. in my area i can get it at cabelas and dunhams. basspro should have it also but i have not looked there. if you change to #11 nipples, keep your stock ones, that way you can use either of the nipples depending on which caps you can find.

Just bought some #10's (1000) and some #11's (1000) from Midsouthshooterssupply.com
You have to keep checking often, but they get them in.
I have both slixsprings and TOTW nipples. TOTW were a little tight with # 11 caps but after a little polishing they are fine and are on my best running revolver. There are at least a dozen scam sites advertising caps. Before ordering do a review of the site. Pretty soon you will get a feel for these crooks. Get on the notify list of some of the reputable suppliers and act as soon as you are notified.

I have also hand buffed my TotW and Treso nipples with a cleaning patch and Mother's Mag polish, and have had to repeat a few times in some cases because the #11's were getting very tight when the nipples got dirty

I use slingshot nipples and pyrodex 30 grain pellets and wads. Loads easy and clean. There was a good paper cartridge loading video on youtube using pyrodex pellets wads and round balls with cigerate papers.
Any site that doesn't have the ability to pay with a credit card (and the ability to charge back if they scam you) is a scam site. There are a lot of them out there nowadays which is pretty disgusting.
I bought slixshot nipples because the only caps I could find were #11 CCI, so good luck out there, midsouth seems to have some in stock.
