So I'm making a shirt based on this pattern:
http://www.nwta.com/patterns/pdfs/261MensShirt.pdf
I don't really have a definite period I'm going for, pretty much late 18th early 19th century.
So I got some nice off-white cotton flannel and I've just started on it.
My first problem is, I can't figure out if the facing is supposed to go on the inside or outside. The instructions say "RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER" but I'm not really sure what that means.
I found the pattern in another thread (http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/235223/) and you guys gave some good tips there. I'm wondering, what's a good way to reinforce the bottom of the facing besides a heart? I'm thinking just to stitch the bottom but are there other methods that would be more historically accurate?
Finally, I don't really like the collar in that pattern. Is there a turned down type of collar that would work for the era I'm looking for?
Thanks all! :hatsoff:
