So I am on my first build. Hawken style. I am putting a underrib on the barrel. I will need 2 ramrod pipes. I found some I like that look to be for full stock but it also mentions that it can be used on half stock. How do they get attached to the underrib? My thought is to remove the tab that is used to pin it in a full stock, then drill holes to mount to underrib. Am I right. I looked for videos but haven't found anything to answer my question. Thanks for the help.

Solder works well, I file the rib flat for the length of the thimble then file the thimble flat where it match’s the rib. This makes the ram rod lay neatly up to the rib. Then use silver solder. After cool hit the end with a wood stick to test. They don’t come loose for ever! The same for steel or brass.

you can get pipes sans flange and then solder them like ha been said or grind/file the flange off and solder.
ribs may or may not be drilled and counter sunk for the screw for the pipe. screwed on pipes have a nasty way of loosening.
i won't presume to tell you how to solder them on but if you aren't proficient in soldering just ask and there will be a Phd of advice available!

fine work OS! have never thought to do that! something new makes a good day!

I do it the same way as Phil Coffins outlined. Flats on both pipe and rib. I use plumbing supplies for the pipe but that's me. In Any Event, I "tin the two areas with the solder and then use 3/8 steel rod through the pipe and slowly heat the area. When the temperature is correct you will visibly see a slight movement as the pipe settles into place, and since the steel rob is there, no issues with alignment of pipes lengthwise. The steel rob also adds weight to force the pipes down into position.
You can use all lead solder (700 degrees) for the pipes and silver (430 degrees) for the rib to barrel.

Here is how I do it;
I first locate the pipes on the rib and file a recess in the rib then file a small flat on the pipes then flux the pipes and rib then "C"-clamp the pipes to the rib and silver braze the pipes on. I then soft solder the rib to the barrel.
