Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
I have had this pistol and have looked and looked in many places to figure out the maker. It has clearly two marks identical crown over v. I am hoping someone out there recognizes this maker.
Crown over V was commonly used as an early English proof (from 1670 to 1813) to indicate it had been viewed and proved by the London Gunmakers Company (under government charter). There are usually other marks as well, most often the barrel makers name or mark as well as Crown over GP. There appears to be a name on the lockplate behind the hammer. Is it readable with magnification? Could identify the maker (or at least the lock maker).
